The Arts Guild of Stevenage was founded in the 1950's. It's purpose, as stated in the constitution, is to foster and promote the maintenance, improvement, and development of artistic awareness, knowledge and practice, understanding and appreciation of the arts and heritage among the inhabitants of the town of Stevenage. The Guild acts a as a consultative body for Stevenage Borough Council and is currently represented on the Cultural Forum and the Local Strategic Partnership.

Membership is open to societies and groups which meet within the Borough of Stevenage - or individuals living in Stevenage who wish to further their own creative endeavours. A small annual subscription is required.

The Guild manages the Community Arts Centre in the Roaring Meg Retail Park on behalf of the Stevenage Borough Council. The Arts Centre is a purpose built facility which can be used for rehearsals and meetings.
