Member Groups > Lytton Players
The Stevenage Lytton Players are an Amateur Dramatic
and Musical Society located in Stevenage, Hertfordshire,
UK. Founded in 1948 they have been, and still are the
leading Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society in Stevenage.
Unusually for an amateur group, the Players specialise
in both Musical Theatre and Drama Productions, achieving
very high standards in both areas. They also boast an
extremely strong and active section The Lytton Youth
Theatre, which caters for two younger age groups comprising
6 to 10 and 10 to 18 years old. In addition there are
ample opportunities for members and patrons to participate
in the Players' activities in an 'offstage' role, be
it backstage, social, or helping with the administration
of the Players' affairs.
The Players' base is at The Lytton Theatre in Stevenage (aka The Sishes), which is used for rehearsals, performances and social events. The Lytton Theatre has a studio rehearsal room plus a stage and auditorium with seating for about 80. The workshop, wardrobe and properties store are well equipped and enable preparation and storage of the Player's sets and costumes. There is also a large licensed bar with its own lounge providing welcome refreshments for thirsty members and audiences.
The premises are available for hire for social functions or group activities. For more details and hiring rates and availability contact the Bookings Manager. Costumes are also available for hire.
